Most of you would know Chris for the beautiful watercolor paintings that she would donate for the Women’s Club raffle. She was a great artist and a wonderful person who had a quick wit and would volunteer whenever needed. We will miss her greatly. See her obituary below for the arrangements.

Christine, 95, of Avon, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Hendricks Regional Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of Mass beginning at 10:00 am, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, located at 1005 West Main St. Danville, IN. Interment will follow in Saint Malachy West Cemetery, Pittsboro, IN. Those wishing to send flowers may have them sent directly to the church.

Christine was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Julius and Yadviga (Antonaitis) Normant. After graduating from high school, Christine served her country by joining the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, FL. While in the service she met and married Aurel Ardelean on April 26, 1950, to whom she was married for 51 years, he preceded her in death, Sept. 25, 2002. Following their discharge from the Navy, the couple spent most of their married life learning to farm on a 48-acre property near Groveland, IN. Christine loved to travel and learn new things. She was a local professional artist and art teacher for over 50 years and her paintings span a wide variety of styles, media, and subjects. Christine was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danville. She was a devoted mother and friend. She encouraged her children to be curious, adventurous, hard-working, caring, and independent.

Christine was the beloved mother of Diane (Jim) Fulcher of Camden, SC, David (Christine) Ardelean of Brownsburg, IN, Donetta Pollard of North Salem, IN, and Daniel Ardelean of Mooresville, IN; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Haley Morgan Trapp, 29, passed away on June 10th in a tragic car accident. Haley’s short time in this world has been best described as “pure magic.” She lived life to the fullest, with passion and enthusiasm. She is already tremendously missed by surviving family members and loved ones, including her father and mother, Christopher and Christine Trapp; her siblings, Mackenzie (David) Meyer, Landon Trapp and Gavin Trapp; her fiancé, James C. Carlton; and her grandparents, Gene and Catherine Trapp. Haley was greeted in heaven by her grandparents, Gerald and Maureen Tocci; her cousin, Mitchell Trapp; and her uncle, Tim Tocci.

Haley attended Marvin Ridge High School and NC State, earning degrees in anthropology and communications. Upon graduation, Haley worked with the EPA, the CDC and PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, in Raleigh, NC. She passionately served others and was an advocate for underserved and vulnerable populations. She supported the NC HIV testing programs, organizing county testing facilities and training to perform onsite testing for high-risk individuals. As the COVID pandemic developed in March of 2020, Haley was the one of the first to volunteer to test incoming passengers at airports on the West Coast.

She brought that same fight and passion into all aspects of her life, loving openly and fiercely. She was a loyal friend and accepted others exactly as they were. She loved to celebrate life. Her family and friends find comfort in knowing how her mark on this earth has been monumental in many ways. We find solace knowing that her impact is not yet fully realized and that her light will continue to shine. Her positivity, empathy, and courageousness will be more contagious than ever before. Her kindness and joyful nature will echo for generations to come.

Haley was due to be married in September to James Carlton of Raleigh, NC. James was the love of her life and soulmate. He will carry her in his heart and she will always be by his side. We will miss her deeply. When we dance, we know she will be dancing alongside us—like always.

Thomas L. Devlin, 93, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Life’s Journey of Avon. He was born on April 20, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Leo and Barbara (Hock) Devlin.

Thomas graduated from St. Rose Catholic High School, Lima, Ohio in 1946. He owned and operated Thomas L. Devlin Company, Inc. for over 40 years. He was a 2nd generation confectionary wholesaler. He retired in 1996, but the family has remained in the business for over 100 years.

Thomas was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, Indiana, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #13968. Thomas was also a veteran of the United States Army. His lifelong passion was golf, and he was extremely proud of his numerous accomplishments in the game including championships and awards earned over his lifetime. He was a member of the Country Club of Indianapolis and Ulen Country Club in Lebanon where he was Senior Club Champion when he was 88 years old.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Marikay “Kitsy” (Eckstein) Devlin; children, Joseph Edward Devlin, Maureen Michelle (Timothy) O’Donnell, Jeffrey Thomas (Marcy) Devlin, Edward Matthew (Heather) Devlin, and Andrew Timothy (Laura) Devlin; eleven grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Rita Ann Moyer.

Thomas’s Life Celebration® will be held Friday July 30, 2021 from 10:00 AM 11:30 AM at O’Riley Funeral Home 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. Morning prayers will begin at the funeral home at 11:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 East Edgewood Avenue, Indianapolis. Thomas O’Brien, 85 of Avon, Indiana was born into eternal life in June 27, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

Tommy was a modern day Celtic storyteller serving as a lawyer. There wasn’t much he loved more than hearing a good story — and the telling, and telling, and telling… His love of a good story probably helped form his love for the law. He believed everyone deserved due process, and due process always began with a story. Some of those stories led to offers of land, cows, or some other “precious” thing in lieu of cash. He later reflected on the folly of passing on several of those parcels of land.

Between college stints he served in the US Air Force as a firefighter supporting training missions in southern Indiana. He relished telling the exploits of the pilots, firemen, and fellow airmen. As one might expect, there were many odes to exemplary military service. But somehow his adventures were a mere whisper while the crazy exploits of others earned many spoken words.

Somewhat reluctantly Tommy lived a second life as a landscaper and pond specialist. When he and the love of his life, Mary, needed more yard than their condo provided they purchased a corner lot with a flat, flood-prone yard. First he had to move all the boulders painstakingly collected for the condo to the house. Then, over the decades he moved many more tons of boulders, stones, dirt and mulch. Various family members were drafted to release rock from the wrong part of the county and bring it to their home. The mounds were sculpted to hold ponds and waterfalls. He eventually became a master gardener and helped create a private bird-filled retreat from the world.

Moving boulders was excellent training for another fulfilling role, Santa Claus. Earlier in life he spent many a year as an Ebenezer Scrooge bah-humbugging his way through the holidays. However, one day he was asked to be Santa, so, fake beard and all he became Santa. This turned into a yearly labor of love. Over the years he developed a following from repeat families and friends. His joy was seen, felt and shared by many.

Tommy was born as Thomas Joseph O’Brien in Indianapolis, IN, son of Thomas R. O’Brien and Beatrice (Keller) O’Brien. His surviving siblings are Beann (O’Brien) deHebreard, John (Jack) O’Brien, and James E. (Jim) O’Brien. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all will miss his love and mischievousness.

Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville, Indiana from 9 am until 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Burial will take place in New Winchester Cemetery.

Janet R. Sturm, 78 of North Salem, passed away June 14, 2021 at Brownsburg Meadows. She was born on February 19, 1943 in Indianapolis to the late Clarence and Doris Leah (Nicholes) Miller. Janet graduated from New Winchester High School in 1962 and married Robert Sturm on February 23, 1963. She was a homemaker and also a school bus driver for the Northwest Hendricks School System for many years. Janet was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville and the Hendricks County Homemaker’s Club. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert Sturm of North Salem; son, David Sturm of Brownsburg; daughter, Shannon Brackett (Jason) of Coatesville; and 5 grandchildren. Her parents; son, Gregory R. Sturm; and sister, Marcia Wynn, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, with inurnment to follow in the New Winchester Cemetery. Mary Alice, 94, of Avon, passed away at home Fri. with her family by her side. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Wed., Nov. 18, 2020 at St. Susanna Catholic Church located at 1210 E. Main St. in Plainfield, with visitation from 10:00 am until time of mass. The wearing of masks and social distancing will be observed. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.

She was born in North Salem to the late William Dewey and LuLu Ann (Jones) Stevens. Mary Alice married Joseph Richard Leon Schmitt Aug.28, 1949, he preceded her in death Aug.3, 1997. She later received her high school diploma from George Washington High School in Indianapolis with the class of 1969. Mary Alice had worked in the customer service department at Eli Lilly for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She has been a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville since 1959. She was also a member of the former Women’s Auxillary of the New Winchester VFW Post.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine “Cathy” (Craig) Pitts, son, Don Schmitt, all of Avon, daughter-in-law, Jan Schmitt of Danville, 9 grandchildren, 12 Great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. 2 sons, Joseph Richard and Lawrence Robert Schmitt have preceded her in death.

Lucille Jane Davis, 82 of Danville, passed away May 27, 2020 at her residence. She was born on August 24, 1937 in Washington, D.C., to the late Joseph and Marian (Howard) Grabman. Lucille married Jack B. Davis on November 17, 1956 in Crawfordsville. She ran a home daycare for 35 years, retiring in 2003. Lucille was an active member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she also sang in the choir. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jack Davis; sons, Jeff Davis of Carmel, Bruce Davis of Danville; daughters, Madonna Carroll (Steve) of Danville, Cindy Ziegele (Scott) of Carmel; brother, Jerry Grabman of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her parents, sister Marian Joan Grabman, and older brother, Steve Grabman preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, June 1, 2020 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville. A private funeral mass will be held at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Danville South Cemetery. Eva Marie Tax, 93 of Danville, Indiana was peacefully born into eternal life on December 13, 2019 in the loving care of her family.

Eva was born February 28, 1926 in Prague, Czechoslovakia to Eugene and Anna (Lukešova) Suchy. She endured the hardships of World War II first-hand, yet still attended business school which would lead to her eventual position as a Statistical Analyst for Rutgers University. On September 1, 1947 she was wed to Stanley Tax, Sr. a loving union that would last until his passing in 2007.

Survivors include her children: John (wife Yan) Tax, Stanley Tax, Jr, Thomas Tax, Eva Tax, Anna (Husband Tim) Wray, and Marie Tax; sister, Olga Klatilova; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Andrew Wray; Alex, Nicholas, Lucas Tax; Amber, Shane, and Cullen McNally; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Tax.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11 am, Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, Indiana, where friends and family will gather from 10 am until the time of the Mass. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Malachy West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate Mass Intentions be made to Mary Queen of Peace, where Eva was a devoted parishioner for over 31 years.

Mom was the elder of two girls born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. As a teenager she survived the Nazi invasion as well as accidental bombing by Americans. Communists took over the country and were after my father so they decided to leave the country. The Communists had closed the border and anyone caught fleeing or aiding escapers would end up in prison or shot.

As a result Mom and Dad created a plan to escape. To prevent any reprisals by authorities, they could not afford to tell any family members of their pending escape attempt. They used the pretext of celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary at a resort near the German border.

Mom, six months pregnant with her 1st child not only had the normal worries and concerns of becoming a mother, whether it would go to term, and whether the baby would be healthy, she also had the additional burden of the possibility of getting shot, imprisoned, and what would become of her first born.

They did not have a clear idea of where to go other than into former enemy territory, Germany, then on to America. Mom knew no english. Thanks to the Nazi occupation our parents learned german and once past the armed guards stationed in border towers they asked directions to get asylum. They ended up in a refugee camp. Thanks to Dad’s self-taught command of English he got a job with United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRA). It still took two years to get sponsorship to emigrate to America. Mom had given birth to two of us while in that primitive chaotic camp.

She got a serious fright when it was time to leave and the younger child was feverish which would make the trip impossible. Fortunately the fever broke. Mom was a fast learner and quickly gained command of English. She went on to have five more of us. She was an awesome human being with boundless love. She nursed all seven of us through various childhood diseases and mishaps while keeping us well fed on Dad’s meager salary. In spite of this, and being nearly 94, her hair never went completely grey. We miss you always. You are in our hearts indelibly. You are leaving an incredible legacy.

Rita J. Fritsch, 95 of Brazil, passed away August 6, 2019 at 4:28 am at Union Hospital.

She was born November 28, 1923 in Brazil, the daughter of Lee J. Deal and Elizabeth Mathis Deal. She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1942. While in high school, she was a Princess on the homecoming court her freshman year, and then as a Senior, she was the homecoming Queen. She was also voted Miss Personality while in high school and was May Queen her Senior Year. She was a life-long member of the Annunciation Catholic Church.
She served on the Altar Society and the Mother’s Club at the Annunciation School.

She began her work career with the Indiana State Highway Department in Indianapolis. She later worked with American Legion National Headquarters during WWII. She landed a secretary position with the Indiana Department of Forestry and at the job she met Lee Fritsch. The story continued when on January 23, 1954, she and Lee were united in marriage.
Rita and Lee enjoyed going to the Elks Lodge and to the American Legion on Saturday nights to get dressed up and dance together. Rita enjoyed cooking, especially holiday treats and special candies made for family and friends, who affectionately called her Miss Rita. Traveling with her sister, Sister Dorothy, and son Mike brought her great joy. They made over 30 trips together and one of her favorite spots was to Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Rita is survived by her sons, Donald Fritsch of Brazil, and Father Michael Fritsch, currently serving at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, IN; granddaughter Laura Thompson (Danny), Brazil and grandson, Don Lee Fritsch of Indianapolis; great-grandsons, Caleb Ellis and Zach Ellis; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lee Fritsch; sister, Sister Dorothy Deal; sister Mary Monroe and a sister Theresa as a three-year-old; one brother in infancy, Paul Deal; one grandson, Devon Ellis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Michael Fritsch Celebrant and Father Jim Koressel, Monsignor Bill Stumpf Concelebrant. Music will be provided by Steve McCullough, Cantor, Elizabeth Maurey. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at French Funeral Home from 5-8pm with Rosary beginning at 5:00. Visitation will also be Saturday from 10-11:00 at the church.

Dave was born in Indianapolis, a son of the late Francis J. and Aletha (McCain) Lenahan. He was a 1957 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis. Dave married Teresa Hynes on Oct. 28, 1961. He had been employed at the Witco-Richardson Company in Indianapolts for 30 years, prior to his retiring in 1992. He later went to work on a part-time basis at Service Warehouse, also in Indianapolis. Dave was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church and had served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1957 – 1960.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Teresa, children, Christine (Donald) Adam of New Palestine, Diane Lenahan of Indianapolis, Carol Lenahan of Coatesville, David (Dorothy) Lenahan of Anchorage, Alaska, John (Pamela) Lenahan of Fairbanks, Alaska, Steven Lenahan of Indianapolis, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Dave is also survived by his sisters, Mary McCardy of Greenwood, Eileen White of Noblesville, and a brother, Bernard Lenahan of Greenwood. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Dave was a loving husband and father, who throughly enjoyed his family, especially their outdoor activities on the lake.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday October 25, 2018 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.

She was employed by Danville Community School Corporation for 40 years, serving as Cafeteria Manager for most of that time. She loved to cook for family, friends and students and was famous for her cinnamon rolls, cookies, peanut butter squares, chili and buffet dinners.

Helen was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. Her vegetable garden was large enough to supply her family and friends with produce every summer. She also enjoyed attending various activities of her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Survivors include her children Jim (Helen) Disney, Rose Ellen (John) Moore, Theresa (Jack) Lynch, Sharon (Jim) Woodrum, all of Danville, grandchildren Angela (Larry) Taylor of Granger, Indiana, Brian (Tracy) Disney of Plainfield, Wm. Andrew Lynch of Danville, John J (Dawn) Moore of Indianapolis, Chris (Juli) Woodrum of Pittsboro, Theresa (Jeremy) Gibbs of Pittsboro, Bridget (Rob) Merrion of Roachdale , April (Craig) Bohbrink of Pittsboro, Michael (Lindsey) Lynch of Danville, David (Elizabeth) Moore of Danville, 20 great-grandchildren and brother John Wiley of Brownsburg.

Helen was a member of St. Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Russell Jr. and Jim, sisters, Rosemary

Smith, Jane Hession, Regina Watson, Betty Forhreich, and Marita Landis.

Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in Danville Monday, January 29th from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville Tuesday, January 30th at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before the Mass. Eugene Arnold Mills, 86, formerly of Heritage Lake passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Eugene was born in Robertdale on September 15, 1930, the son of Arnold Nathan and Elsie Anna Paula (Radloff) Mills, and was a 1948 graduate of Hammond High School. He earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1961.

Mr. Mills proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952. He worked at AT&T, formerly Bell Labs, for over 34 years until his retirement in 1989. Eugene was a member of Mary Queen of Peace in Danville, the Knights of Columbus in Greencastle, and was a former member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Donna Mills; six children, Ann Felgen, (husband-Bob), Michelle Waters, Terese Carter, (husband-Monty), Jean McCorkhill, (husband-David), Lisa Galligan, (husband-David), and Kevin Mills, (wife-Tina); a brother, Norman Mills (wife-Helen), twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael mills, and a grandson, Erica deCallone.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1005 W Main St, Danville, IN 46122, with Father Michael Fritsch officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Carolyn G. Kashman, 88, passed away June 29, 2017. She was a homemaker and a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Carolyn dedicated her life to her family and volunteering her free time to the service of others. She crafted handmade rosaries, which were distributed all over the world, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and the Mary Queen of Peace rectory office. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Moore.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William Kashman; children, Steve (Jeanne), Dennis (DiAnn), Tom (Terri), Peggy, and Chris (Pam) Kashman; brother, Larry (Eileen) Smith; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, IN with a visitation before the Mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Kathy was 54, of Bainbridge, passed away April 25, 2017 in her residence. Born May 28, 1962 in Danville, she was the daughter of Ronald A. and Patricia A. (Turley) Birchler. Kathy married Eric A. Willard on December 10, 1988 in Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She retired from Hendricks Regional Health, where she worked as a communication specialist. Kathy was a 1980 graduate of Danville High School.

Survivors include her husband, Eric; sons, Joshua Willard of New Maysville, Matthew Willard, Jonathon Willard, both of Zionsville; father, Ron Birchler of Danville; brothers, Jeff (Shari) Birchler of Plainfield and Randy (Jill) Birchler of Danville. Her mother, Pat Birchler, preceded her in death on April 2, 2017.

Patricia Ann Birchler, 80 of Danville, passed away April 2, 2017 in her home. She was born on February 19, 1937 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Herbert and Mary (Murphy) Turley. Pat married Ronald A. Birchler on November 27, 1957 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. She was the manager for Richard Bennett Furniture Store in Danville for many years. Pat was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a former member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in which she was past president. An avid golfer, she and her husband, Ron, were members of the Prestwick Country Club for the past 33 years.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Birchler of Danville; sons, Jeff (Shari) Birchler of Plainfield, Randy (Jill) Birchler of Danville; daughter, Kathy (Eric) Willard of Bainbridge; step-mother, Elsie Turley; step-sisters, Linda Edwards, Cynthia Brandon, Lori Vinci, Candace Harvey; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Velma L. Spears 78, of Danville, passed away Feb. 28, 2017 after battling years of debilitating illness. She fought a hard fight until the end.

Velma was born Dec. 19, 1938 in Indianapolis to the late Lawrence and Wilma (Cunningham) Schakel. She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.

A loving mom, grandma, great grandma, and homemaker, she is survived by her children, James E. Elinor Hatcher, 87, of New Winchester, passed away February 2, 2017 in her home. Born July 1, 1929 in Nome, Alaska, she was the daughter of Walter John and Helen Burnell Dowd. She married James Hatcher, Sr. on January 9, 1950 in Seattle, Washington.

Elinor was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danville. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in various offices in the past, such as the President of the New Winchester Chapter, 6th District President and State Chief of Staff. She also held a life membership in the Amvets Auxiliary and was a member of the Danville American Legion Post #118 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Sue (Ken) Ottinger, Jean (Charlie) Thurnall, all of New Winchester, Kathy (Dan) Wethington of Ladoga, Jim (Jenny) Hatcher, Jr., of New Winchester, Mari (Mike) Clark of Danville; and 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister, preceded her in death.

Brad was a kind and gentle soul, who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being with his family, and friends. He brought laughter and joy to everyone.

KayAnne Therese (Daunt) Klinker’s life was cut short on November 27, 2016 at the age of 48. She was a source of tremendous joy and inspiration throughout her life as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, and mentor.
KayAnne was the wife of Michael Klinker, the mother of Alexander and Benjamin Klinker, the daughter of Patrick and Susan Daunt, and sister to Marianne (John) Hogsett, Joanne (Christopher) Mortensen, and Sarah (Alfred) Gaspari, and aunt to several nieces and nephews.
KayAnne traveled, taught, learned and loved with zeal and curiosity. She served as the library media specialist at Westlake Elementary School for fourteen years. She gave the gift of knowledge, and a passion for reading, to her sons and her students.
KayAnne refused to be defined by the cancer that eventually took her life, and she gave enduring hope to fellow survivors and the nurses and doctors at the Simon Cancer Center. Even in death, she continues to provide hope to others by generously donating her body to science for further research and training.
A memorial Mass will be held at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, in Danville, Indiana on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow.

Kenneth “Kenny” Campbell, 47, of Clayton passed away on October 8, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on April 18, 1969 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles and Sharon Bowen Campbell. He is survived by his of wife of 23 years Diane Campbell. Kenny was a Journeyman Wireman working for Cache Valley Electric Co. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481 and Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville, Indiana. Timothy James Cooney, 68, of Avon, passed away September 15, 2016. Born November 28, 1947 in Springfield, Ohio, he was the son of Michael E. and Margaret Jean Digan Cooney. He married Joann Heeg, his high school sweetheart, on December 19, 1970. They were married 45 wonderful years and have 4 children, Patrick (Amy), Michael (Courtney), Stephen (Kristen), and Matthew (Lisa) Cooney. Tim was the proud and doting grandfather of 12 grandchildren, Riley, Connor, Jack, Nolan, Maddie, Carter, Sam, A.J., Kaitlyn, Charlie, James and Bennett. He is also survived by brothers, Tom (Terri) Cooney, Terry (Deborah) Cooney; sister, Michelle (Mike) Valentine. His parents, brother, Michael and cousins, Mary Ellen Ross and Patty Snell, preceded him in death.

Tim entered the Army after High School and served his country in Vietnam for 14 months. He then attended Wright State University and transferred to I U P U I to obtain his bachelor’s degree and later on his master’s degree. During school he worked for International Harvester and continued for 42 years, retiring in 2008 as the Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. He kept busy with golfing, Notre Dame football, running, and proudly supporting/photographing his grandkids at all their sporting events. Tim served as Commander of the Heritage Palms Veteran’s Association in Florida. He was also a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Leo Dennis Graves, age 63, of Danville, Indiana formerly of Madison entered this life on June 24, 1953 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Leo Eugene and Norma Ruth Cole Graves. He was raised in Madison and was a 1971 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School where he enjoyed playing sports. He then went to Hanover College and received his Bachelors in Mathematics and a Minor in Education in 1975 and also served as student manager for the various sports at the college. He received his Masters in Mathematics in 1980 from Indiana University Southeast. He began teaching in 1976 at Bishop David High School in Louisville, Kentucky and then at Lanesville High School until 1978 when he began teaching in the Madison Consolidated School System. In 1980 he began a career with the Danville Community Schools in Danville, Indiana. He taught from 1980 to 1992 Mathematics and Computers and served as the computer coordinator for the district and was instrumental in 1983 in starting the Computer department in the school system. In 1999 he became the Technology Specialist and administered the helpdesk. In 2008 he became a part of the Alternative Education Program which served Danville Community Schools, Northwest Hendricks and Mill Creek School Corporations. Dennis was always busy and in the summer time he worked six summers in Madison at the Jefferson Proving Grounds as a Mathematician. He would also teach evening classes at Ivy Tech State College. Loving sports he served as a IHSSA Official for volleyball, baseball, softball and track. He had coached football, baseball and was an athletic trainer for all sports. Dennis was raised in the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison and after moving to Danville became affiliated with the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. There he served on the Liturgy Committee for the past eleven years and as Chairman of the Extraordinary Ministers of Communion. He served as the Recorder and Financial Secretary for the Knights of Columbus Council 11896 in Danville. For the past seven years he served on the Board of Trustees of the Central Indiana School Employees Insurance Trust. Dennis was a beloved teacher who enjoyed educating students as well as helping them to excel in sports. He was an avid reader, collector and fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He had lovingly cared for his mother for the past 14 years of her life until her death on March 22, 2011. Dennis died on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 6:00 a.m. at his home in Danville, Indiana.

Dennis will be missed by his loving brother, Gordon Shawn Graves and his wife, Melanie of Dayton, Ohio; his loving nephews, Brent Graves and Craig Graves; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Eugene Graves, died June 6, 1975, his mother, Norma Ruth Cole Graves, died March 22, 2011 and his grandparents.

Stephen R. Searcy, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away June 25, 2016. He was born March 7, 1936 in Indianapolis the son of the late Lester and Josephine Searcy. He worked for over 38 years in fleet services for American Airlines. He attended Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Stephen and Diane have spent their winters in Okeechobee, FL since 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Jo Searcy. He is survived by his wife, Diane J. (Kellems) Searcy; son, Stephen Patrick (Dawn) Searcy; daughters, Sherry (Eddie) Brewer, Shelley (Doug) Coss; brother, James (Judy) Searcy; sister, Anna Marie (Jim) Parke; grandchildren, Rachel (Brayton) McCarver, Matthew (Erin) Searcy, Morgan and Kendall Coss, Katie and Tristan Brewer; great grandchildren, Madison and Olivia McCarver; 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

Lowell and Carol decided very recently to sell their home here in Clayton, Indiana and move back to Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania. They didn’t get a chance to sell their house here before tragedy struck.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Lowell Mehaffey Agnew, 60, of Harmonsburg, died unexpectedly Friday, June 10, 2016. Also for the care and consolation of his family.

He was born in Meadville January 14, 1956 a son of George Mehaffey and Marjorie McMichael Agnew. He married Carolyn M. Slater August 19, 1977 at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church and she survives.

He was a 1973 graduate of Linesville High School and a 1979 graduate of Penn State University with an Associate’s Degree in Agricultural Business. He was a life-long farmer working the family’s century owned farm outside of Harmonsburg and he also farmed in Indiana. He loved all things farming, but also enjoyed basketball, vintage tractors and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Carolyn of 38 years, include: four daughters, Bridget de la Peña and her husband Ramón of Skokie, IL, Lori McGovern and her husband Timothy of Silver Spring, MD, Jennifer Agnew and her husband David Chonowski of Blacklick, OH and Karen Price and her husband Anthony Price Jr. of Montgomery Village, MD; a son, George V. Agnew and his wife Janelle of Conneautville; twelve grandchildren, Thérèse, Myriam, Brendan, Monica, Kateri and Agnes McGovern, Anthony Price III, Oona Price, Avalee, Eloise, Everett and Guinevere Agnew and another grandchild due in September; three brothers, L. Michael Agnew and his wife Linda Hank of Conneaut Lake, Robert Agnew and his wife Jean of Conneautville and Bryan Agnew and his wife Kim of Conneaut Lake; a sister, Bonneita Beswick and her husband Rob of Pittsburgh and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ann Elizabeth “Betty” Schmutte, 99, of Avon, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. She was born on April 17, 1917 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Lewis and Margaret (Johnson) Williams. Betty was a 1935 graduate of St. John’s High School in Indianapolis and worked for over 20 years as a secretary for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for over 50 years, where she sang in the choir and volunteered as a Sacristan.

Betty is survived by her sons, Nick (Helen) Schmutte, John (Barbara) Schmutte, Richard Schmutte; daughter-in-law, Judy Schmutte; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her brother, Glenn Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Bud” Schmutte; son, Stephen Schmutte; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Retired Federal Judge Anthony Carl Guido 89 of Hattiesburg, MS., died Saturday April 02, 2016 and a former resident of Danville, IN. Karol Ann Glissman, 60 of Indianapolis passed away February 9, 2016 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born December 2, 1955 in Axtell, Kansas to Callistus A. and C. Georgina (Engelken) Glissman; her mother survives in Seneca, Kansas.

Karol was employed as a Waitress and Hostess at the Paragon Restaurant in Indianapolis.

Along with her father, Karol was also preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Glissman.

Other survivors include her five brothers, James Glissman of Plainfield, Indiana, David Glissman of Corning, Kansas, Keith Glissman of Burlington, Kansas, Brian Glissman of Seneca, Kansas and Eric Glissman of Rolla, Missouri; three sisters, Kathy Stamper of Danville, Indiana, Phyllis Glissman of Sabetha, Kansas and Patricia Edwards of Danville, Indiana; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville, Indiana.
