Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
“The Second Vatican Council restored for the Latin Church ‘the catechumenate for adults, comprising several distinct steps.’ The rites for these stages are to be found in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. (Catholic Catechism #1232)”
Adults (and children over the canonical age of seven years) who wish to join the Catholic Church and become active members in the faith community, or baptized Catholics who have only celebrated one or two of the Initiation Sacraments, are invited to enroll in the RCIA Program of our parish. The weekly session begin in late summer and culminate with celebration of the Initiation Sacraments at the Easter Vigil in the spring. Children are asked to attend grade appropriate religious education classes in addition to the separate RCIA Program.
